Realize that you are starting a business
Building a business takes commitment, time and knowledge, have these and the luck will come. There are no short-cuts. You have to commit to learning your new business. You need to learn enough to chose a business model that will work for you, and then, and this is the important step, you need to take action. No one can tell you that you will make $1000 tomorrow, next week or in six months time. Your results are entirely dependent on you and your abilities.
Realize that your business is about selling
If you have never sold before its time to learn a whole lot about marketing and direct sales. Whether you are selling your own e-book or a camera on Amazon, you need to persuade your visitor to click on the ad.
Its not about what you want, its about your customer
Don\'t start a blog about your cats or your kids and expect to make $1000/week from it! Your cats and your kids are no doubt your passion - but the rest of the world doesn\'t really care, sorry! Instead you need to focus on finding a market of people who are looking for information or a product and are prepared to pay you for answering that need. By all means start the blog about the moggies - but make sure its for fun not profit!
